Halbach Array Magnet
Halbach array magnet is a magnetic array that produces a high magnetic field utilizing permanent magnets, arranged with a spatially rotating magnetic field vector which has the effect of focusing and augmenting the magnetic field on one side, while cancelling it out on the other. Halbach array rings are able to achieve very high and uniform flux densities without necessitating any power input or cooling, which an electromagnet would require.
A Halbach array is a special magnetization arrangement that concentrates magnetic flux on one side while nearly canceling it on the other. Invented by physicist Klaus Halbach, this design uses multiple neodymium magnet segments with magnetization directions rotated incrementally (45° or 90°), creating a near-ideal sinusoidal field.
